Caring for Your Precious Fine Art Prints
Share
I'm thrilled that you've chosen to bring a piece of Finnish nature into your home. My Fine Art prints are crafted with love and attention to detail, and taking good care of them will ensure they continue to bring a sense of stillness and beauty to your space. Here’s a friendly guide to help you care for your cherished prints.
Handling Fine Art Prints
Handling your prints with care is the first step to preserving their beauty. Always make sure your hands are clean and dry. If you have a pair of cotton gloves handy, even better! This will help prevent any oils or dirt from transferring onto the print.
Especially dark details are always sensitive to marks, scratches and fingerprints. That is why I advice you to handle your prints by the edges to avoid any fingerprints or creases. For this, every print has 5 to 10cm white border; it is there to help you handle your new art with confidence (and also, it adds a nice, elevated touch!).
Optimal Display Conditions
Finding the perfect spot for your print is key for longevity.
Keep them away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and avoid areas with high humidity, like bathrooms, to protect against warping. A room with stable temperature and humidity is ideal. If you can, use UV-protective glass or acrylic when framing to give them that extra layer of protection against light.
Cleaning Recommendations
Dust is a part of life, but it doesn’t have to dull your prints. A soft, dry microfiber cloth or a duster is your best friend here. Gently wipe away any dust, and avoid using water or cleaning solutions directly on the print. If you come across any stubborn spots, it’s always a good idea to consult a professional conservator.
Storage Tips
If you ever need to store your prints, keep them in a cool, dry place. Use acid-free materials like archival sleeves or folders to prevent any discoloration. Store them flat, and try not to stack them to avoid creases or scratches. For larger pieces, a portfolio case can offer that extra level of protection.
By following these simple steps, your prints will continue to share the peaceful essence of Finnish landscapes with you for years to come. Each piece is a little slice of nature, crafted with care, and I'm so happy to share that with you.
